Transition
Our aim for a seamless primary and high school transition
FOUNDATION 2025 TRANSITION INFORMATION
Our Foundation (Prep) Transition Program is designed to help children and parents get acquainted with our school facilities, meet the Foundation teachers, and engage in enjoyable, interactive learning activities. This program introduces them to the school’s environment and structure in a fun and welcoming way.
FUTURE STUDENT SESSIONS
Your child will participate in 4 sessions taking part in both the Prep and also Specialist classroom setting. These sessions have planned activities and are run by the current Prep and Specialist teachers.
CLASS ORIENTATION DAY
Your child will spend time with their teacher and classmates for 2025 in their designated classroom.
PARENT SESSIONS
Our school will run two information sessions for parents to best inform how to have the best start to primary school life in 2025.
THE FORMAL TRANSITION FROM PRIMARY TO SECONDARY SCHOOL BEGINS IN EARLY TERM 2 EACH YEAR
If you’re unsure about which secondary school to select, we highly recommend that you and your family attend secondary school open days, participate in information nights, or reach out to the schools directly to arrange a personalised tour. We encourage all parents and carers to take these steps when deciding on a primary or secondary school for their child. During these visits, you’ll gain first-hand insight into the programs offered and, most importantly, get a sense of whether the school would be the right fit for your child.
The link below from the Department of Education website offers valuable tips and information on various topics related to the transition process. It also includes links to additional resources and online content to assist you in supporting your child’s educational journey.
We work closely with secondary schools to ensure a smooth transition process. This is facilitated through verbal and/or written communication between the Year 6 teacher and a representative from the secondary school. We have established strong professional relationships with our colleagues in secondary education.
