Literacy

At Birmingham Primary School, we foster a lifelong love of reading and writing while empowering our students’ voices. We believe that a strong foundation in literacy is crucial for academic success and personal growth.

Our Readers’ and Writers’ Workshops ensure we have whole school consistency. The workshops encourage students to take ownership of their learning, including the selection of ‘just right’ books to explore their passions and interests. 

Our students write for authentic purposes with intended audiences. Teachers use rich texts to teach literacy skills and work directly with popular authors through in-person and online sessions.
