Our Students
The Heart of Everything We Do
Leadership
From class jobs to captain roles, leadership opportunities are encouraged for students across all grade levels at Birmingham.
In Grade 6, a group of students are chosen to represent our school as School Captains, Global Education Captains, Italian Captains, Library Captains, Performing Arts Captains, Physical Education Captains, STEM Captains, Sustainability Captains and Visual Art Captains.
These students serve as exceptional role models for their peers, taking on key responsibilities throughout the school, and they stand as exemplary Ambassadors for Birmingham Primary School.

Junior School Council
The Junior School Council (JSC) at Birmingham Primary School serves as the voice of our students. This group, together with teacher coordinators, represents the perspectives, concerns, and ideas of the student body. Their role involves actively engaging with both the school and the broader community to ensure students’ views are heard and considered.
An active JSC is in place, with an elected member from each Prep to Grade 6 class. Student representatives are elected annually by their peers.
Some recent initiatives of the Council include:
- Walk to School day
- Australian Koala Foundation fundraiser
- Pets of the Homeless fundraiser
- Christmas appeal
